Pink October in Luxembourg: dressing your event in pink

Every October, pink takes over: ribbons on lapels, lit-up façades, charity runs. Pink October is a breast cancer awareness campaign, and Luxembourg takes part every year. If you are organising an action, a company day or an association event, here is where the campaign comes from, what it looks like on the ground, and how we can help you dress it.

Where Pink October comes from

The campaign began in the United States in 1985, on the initiative of the American Cancer Society, to promote early breast cancer screening. The pink ribbon itself appeared in the early 1990s: it was popularised in 1992 by Self magazine and Evelyn Lauder, who had it distributed on a large scale. Within a few years it became the international symbol of the fight against the disease.

The campaign reached France in 1994 and then spread across Europe. The principle has not changed since: make the subject visible for a whole month, encourage screening, and raise funds for research and for supporting patients.

In Luxembourg

Europa Donna Luxembourg is the reference association in the country. Founded in 2002 and recognised as a public-interest body since 2010, it supports patients through diagnosis, treatment and afterwards — support groups, post-oncology rehabilitation, help for young families, Café Donna — and runs the awareness campaigns around the national mammography programme. It also organises the Broschtkriibslaf, the run and walk against breast cancer: the 2026 edition takes place on Saturday 3 October, from 10:15, at the Hesperange park — 5 km running or walking, pushchairs, wheelchairs and dogs welcome, registration at broschtkriibslaf.lu. The Fondation Cancer and the Ministry of Health each relay the national campaign.

If you are organising an action in aid of an association, contact them beforehand: most have precise rules on the use of their name and logo.

What it looks like: two installations

Every year we decorate venues for Pink October in Luxembourg — hospitals, reception halls, companies. Two examples of what we do:

Pink October decoration: bubble balloons with pink hearts hung along a staircase in a hall, Luxembourg

Clear bubble balloons with a pink heart staggered along a staircase rail: discreet, readable from a distance, and it holds all day. It is the most effective installation for a hall people walk through.

Column of pink and white balloons topped with a pink mylar heart, maternity unit reception in Luxembourg

A column of pink and white balloons topped with a mylar heart, placed at the entrance to a hospital department. Two columns either side of a door are enough to mark a reception without cluttering it.

Dressing a venue in pink

Pink works through volume rather than an accumulation of objects. Three approaches, from the simplest to the most spectacular:

  • Balloons. The strongest visual effect for the smallest budget: a cluster at reception, a column either side of an entrance, an organic arch in a gradient of pinks above a stand, or heart bubbles hung from above. We have Pink October latex balloons as well as a full range of pinks, from pastel to magenta.
  • The table. Pink tablecloths, cups, napkins and plates are enough to set the tone on a buffet or an information stand, without overloading it.
  • The details on people. Pink sequin accessories, make-up and coloured hair spray: enough to put a whole team in the colours of the day for a few euros each.

Helium inflation is done in store, at collection — plan your visit the same morning or the day before. For a shipped order, we offer the 30-balloon helium kit, to be inflated on site.

For companies, municipalities and associations

Pink October is one of the rare occasions when an internal action is both simple to organise and well received by staff. Three formats that work:

Decorating the venue

Shop window, reception hall, canteen, awareness stand, open day or charity run. We produce bespoke balloon decoration — arches, columns, balloon ceilings, photo backdrops — and we deliver and install throughout Luxembourg.

Kitting out the teams

A group order of pink accessories for staff: ribbons, sequin accessories, wigs, make-up, T-shirts and balloons to hand out. We prepare the order by department and deliver it ready to distribute.

The photobooth

A photobooth with a pink set and a frame personalised in the colours of your action: staff leave with their photo, and you end up with a wall of images to publish internally or on your channels. It is the format that gets an awareness day talked about the most, because it makes people take part instead of asking them to listen.

These services are quoted individually. Write to us at b2b@partyshop.lu with the date, the venue, the number of people and the effect you are after; we will come back with a costed proposal.

Where to find what you need

The whole pink range is available online and in our two shops, with free collection:

  • Hollerich — 17 rue de Hollerich, L-1741 Luxembourg · Monday 11:00-19:00, Tuesday to Friday 10:00-19:00, Saturday 9:00-18:00
  • Junglinster — Langwies 2 shopping centre, 7 rue Nicolas Glesener, L-6131 Junglinster · Monday to Friday 10:00-18:30, Saturday 9:30-18:00

Our teams can help you put together a coherent set based on your budget and the size of the venue — often more effective than buying item by item.
