On 25 September, Luxembourg swaps the wine glass for the one-litre stein. For five weeks the Oktoberfest takes over the Rives de Clausen — and once again this year, those who turn up in a Dirndl or Lederhosen have a far better evening than the rest.
Where to celebrate Oktoberfest in Luxembourg in 2026
The main address in the country is the Brasserie Big Beer Company, 12 Rives de Clausen, from 25 September to 30 October 2026. Free entry, live music with Marco Boesen on Fridays and Saturdays, DJ until 3 a.m., and the menu that goes with it: pork knuckle, grilled chicken, pretzels. Traditional dress is strongly encouraged — which is to say, expected.
Beyond Clausen, several municipalities run their own Wiesn in the autumn: sports clubs, associations and village halls put on Bavarian evenings throughout October. Keep an eye on your municipality's calendar — these evenings fill up quickly and are often booked by the table.
Getting dressed: Dirndl and Lederhosen
This is where it is all decided. The Dirndl for her, the Lederhosen for him — and one detail that matters: the knot on the Dirndl apron. On the left, you are single. On the right, taken. At the front centre, a virgin. At the back, a widow or a waitress. Nobody will warn you if you get it wrong.
The accessories that change everything
You do not need the full outfit to join in. A pair of braces, a hat and some braids are enough to turn a white shirt into a Bavarian costume — and cost about the price of a round.
Setting up your own Wiesn at home
A blue and white diamond tablecloth, bunting strung across the ceiling, a few lanterns: the Bavarian mood comes down to three things and goes up in half an hour. For a birthday table or a company evening, it is the best-value decoration of the autumn.
Three mistakes that spoil the evening
- Waiting until the last week. Dirndl and Lederhosen sizes go first, and it is the common sizes that run out soonest.
- Forgetting the shoes. White trainers under Lederhosen and the whole effect falls flat. Brown town shoes are enough.
- Ignoring the apron knot. See above. The regulars do notice.
Where to find it all in Luxembourg
Our two shops, in Hollerich and Junglinster, bring out the Oktoberfest range from mid-September — you can try the outfits on, which remains the safest approach for Lederhosen. Everything is also available online: see the whole Oktoberfest range, with free click and collect in store or delivery in Luxembourg.
Prost!
